By Western Hands™ Western Design Museum

Preservation of the history of western design allows its rich history to be shared with and appreciated by future generations. By Western Hands™ Design Museum will focus on the origins of western design to educate, promote and preserve this iconic American art.

By Western Hands™ Design Museum and archive hopes to preserve the history of western functional art through a growing collection of western furnishings, lighting, and couture as well as historic and contemporary archival materials including photos, drawings and designers’ correspondence. The Museum will interpret past styles and techniques and honor both living and deceased artists’ creative legacies in its exhibitions. From the roots of BWH’s members’ style in early Adirondak furniture to early leaders in the field like Thomas Molesworth, to innovations in technology, the Museum strives to demonstrate why western design is unique to this region of the United States.
