Lisa and Loren are a full-time saddle maker team. Together they have built over 1,000 saddles since 1974! Their forte is a classically built Western Saddle with an elegant and contemporary flavor and ride. Every saddle is a one-of-a-kind heirloom piece, created to last a life-time. Lisa is well-known for her unique carving and painting. Loren is famous for his silver and leather braiding.
Lisa was an Art Major at UCLA and Loren is a graduate of biology. Their love of horses brought them together, and their consummate horsemanship inspired their life long passion for saddle making. Their dedication to leather work has expanded into architectural work, wall art and much more – if you can dream it, they can build it! Their most recent awards include the Western Design Conference – 1999-2013, Artist-In-Residence at Mesa Verde – 2015, 2 pieces in The Booth Western Art Museum, Shania Twainʼs Farewell Tour Saddle – 2015, Cowboys & Indians Magazine – 2015, ShopTalk! Magazine – 2017.
Their other passion is traveling to nomadic horse cultures to work with the horsemen, bringing tools and supplies. Their projects have been in Mongolia, the Altai Mountains in Russia, and Peru. Their most recent workshops have been at the Northern Arizona Museum in Flagstaff working with Navajo craftsmen (2017) and two workshops in Switzerland (2018).
Lisa and Loren have two children, two grandchildren and live happily in Durango, Co. with their 3 horses.
