By Western Hands™ Western Design Museum
Preservation of the history of western design allows its rich history to be shared with and appreciated by future generations. The By Western Hands™ Design Museum will focus on the origins of western design to educate, promote and preserve this iconic American art.
By Western Hands™ has created a permanent and revolving exhibition utilizing photographs and master works from institutional and private collections. Our inaugural exhibition displays the entire Switchback Ranch Award Collection of western functional art for the first time, ever. The pieces have been donated to the By Western Hands Design Museum from the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, and represent the very highest quality craftsmanship and design by contemporary artists.
The Museum will also showcase Thomas Molesworth’s work which was built in his final productive years, as a way to provide history and context to other noteworthy pieces by currently active artists. The aim of the museum is to showcase the relevance of western design to the world.
